The Team and the route

There are six of us touring!

Debbie and Duncan Macleod from Johannesburg

Gail Jennings and Leonard Gardner from Noordhoek

 and Mark Holgate and Sue Stein from Lakeside.

Training has been done efficiently.....not the cycling part....the socializing, snacking and wine tasting part.

We are heading into Port country, starting at Ladismith on the 28th June. Our first stop over, after the Huisriviers Pass ( sigh) will be in Calitzdorp. The next day we head off to the Bella De Karoo on the back gravel  roads. After spending the night at the Bella de Karoo we head back towards Calitzdorp, sleep over,and  then we cycle over the Rooiberg Pass to Vanwyksdorp. The final stretch, the next day is back to Ladismith. A lovely loop around and over the Rooiberg mountains. What a way to spend a holiday.....

Preparations are in full swing.

We are busy preparing for our Round the Rooiberg Tour in the Klein Karoo. The panniers have been taken out of hibernation. They have bee in hibernation for a year. The bikes are tuned, air tickets booked for the JHB cyclists joining us and the spirits are high.
Coffee percolators, snacks, warm clothes, sherry and knitting needles are packed.
